Hi! I’m Fizz, an 18-year-old fresh-out-of-exams aspiring blogger who struggles to describe herself now that the word “student” is no longer entirely accurate. I finished my final A Level exam just over one month ago, having studied Physics, Spanish and Psychology, and now I’m looking forward to a relaxed summer filled with new experiences.
I’ve always liked the idea of having a blog but the introvert in me struggles with the idea of sharing things with a large audience. I don’t post often on social media for the same reason that I don’t stand on a table in a room of 100+ acquaintances and recount what I did that day. There’s also something very personal about sharing my writing, somehow. Even though it’s carefully crafted and edited, then shared through a computer screen of all things, it feels more raw than speaking. I don’t know. However, I do need a project after finishing my A Levels – turns out the sudden switch from 24/7 studying to nothing at all is not great for one’s sanity – and this seems like it could be an interesting creative outlet.
Categorising this blog is currently the hardest thing for me – will is be a travel blog? A student life blog? Will I dovetail completely and dive into the world of fashion blogging? Unlikely, but possible. What you can expect for sure is raw honesty about being a student (and, indeed, not being one), the ups and downs of planning a gap year and, if I make it that far, a personal account of starting university, as well as tales of my previous trips, hopes for future adventures and maybe a little reflection on what the last few months have been like for me, and how I feel now that they’re over (I’d be lying if I said I’m not glad).
Ultimately, this is a kind of experiment for me, so this could be interesting! Any tips or feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading!
