Welcome to post number one in this series of an as-yet-undecided length! I loved chatting to Liezl from Yours Trulie, who describes herself as “an amateur blogger with not so amateur life experiences” – I love that! As well as sporting a gorgeous theme, her blog is a portfolio of exquisitely written musings on life, love, self reflection and more, all beautifully raw and genuine. It was a pleasure to chat to her!
Q: How do you like to unwind after a long day?
A: I usually unwind after a long day by walking while drinking bubba, watching the clouds changing into pinkish colors and watching the sunset, headset on my ears and playing music. The cool breeze of the wind adds in helping me clear my mind and relax my nerves.
Q: How often do you push yourself out of your comfort zone?
A: I’m trying my best to push myself out of my comfort zone every now and then, I’m kinda introvert that’s why I’m having a little bit of a hard time to do it, but I’m trying because I want to try new things and take some risks.
Q: Do you think celebrities/the media have a responsibility to promote self esteem and good mental health?
A: For me, they don’t have the responsibility and they are not obliged to promote it but it’s their responsibility to be a role model since people look up into them. People consider them as an influencer. They can be a role model in enhancing and establishing self esteem in so many ways like having the confidence and accepting their flaws which they are showing it to the public so people can realize that it’s perfect to be imperfect. Same goes with the mental health.
Q: What’s your biggest tip for looking after yourself?
A: It’s okay to be hurt, to cry because it’s normal. But I always choose to be happy and talk to my family and friends. Cake and Ice cream won’t hurt but your choices will hurt you. I choose to be happy, to be motivated and to challenge myself. That’s how I look after myself. So I can be the better version of me.
Q: Tea or coffee?
A: Coffee! Iced cold white coffee.
Q: Summer or winter?
A: Sumter? Hahaha I like both. BUT here in UAE I prefer winter.
Q: Rom com or action?
A: Rom com.
Q: What’s your favourite post?
A: From my own blog it’s “You Deserve It!” it summarizes the stages of my life, the difficulties I faced before and how I survived it. And “Even the Strongest Person Gets Tired Of Being Strong And Needs A Break” by Mary Wright (The Power of Silence) because it’s okay not to be okay.
Q: Do you have a guilty pleasure TV show?
A: Is it weird if I said yes and it’s How To Get Away With Murder?
Q: Where do you want to be in 10 years?
A: No specific country or place but I can see myself 10 years from now in a place where I watch my kids being happy with a husband beside me and owning several businesses (coffee shops, milk tea house, events company and/or restobar) and being a successful blogger that gives inspiration and motivation to other people. Lastly, having a couple of books published.
Thank you for reading! I just love the positivity in the 10-year vision. Definitely check out Liezl’s blog if you don’t already know her. You can find her here:
This series will evolve with each post that goes up. No two conversations are the same! I’ll also be thinking hard to come up with a nice name for the series.

Thanks for reading! Yep, me too! It’s such a healthy mindful thing to do – better than getting into bed and eating chocolate like I do 🙄
